Quitman Names New Assistant Police Chief: Edwin Laws

The Quitman Police Department is proud to announce the promotion of Edwin Laws to Assistant Police Chief. The recommendation for his promotion was unanimously approved by the Board of Aldermen, reflecting strong confidence in his leadership and dedication to public service.

City leadership expressed appreciation for the continued support of a proactive Mayor and Board of Aldermen who remain committed to moving both the Department and the City forward.

Assistant Chief Laws will join the Department’s administration alongside Chief of Police Chris Read—pictured here—and Captain Theresa Hare, working collaboratively with the dedicated team of full-time and part-time officers who serve the Quitman community.

The Department looks forward to continued progress and strengthening its service to the citizens of Quitman under this leadership team.
