One in Custody After Car Struck by Gunfire; Two Stolen Guns Recovered

Meridian, MS – Police responded to a shooting incident around 6:30 pm today at the intersection of 56th Avenue and Author Street, where a vehicle was struck by gunfire.
No injuries were reported in the incident.
The Meridian Police Department (MPD), officers detained a male suspect at the scene. He was taken into custody and transported for further questioning.
Two stolen firearms were recovered during the investigation at the scene.
The incident remains under investigation. MPD has not yet released the identity of the suspect or the origin of the firearms.
