Shooting Suspect Taken Into Custody at Azalea Park Apartments

Meridian, MS – A suspect was taken into custody tonight after reports of shots fired at the Azalea Park Apartments, located in the 800 block of 29th Street.

The Meridian Police Department (MPD), officers from multiple divisions — including the Gang Unit, Special Operations, and patrol — quickly responded to the scene.

Members of the Gang Unit, along with K-9 officer "Toledo," spotted the suspect fleeing the area with a weapon in hand. A foot chase ensued, during which the suspect ran into an apartment unit. Officers were able to arrest the individual shortly after.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident.
