MPD MAKES ARREST IN LABOR DAY HOMICIDE
MERIDIAN, Mississippi — The Meridian Police Department has made an arrest in connection with the Labor Day shooting in the 1900 block of 39th Place.
Chamarion Naylor, 20, has been charged with murder. He was taken into custody late Thursday night without incident through a coordinated effort involving MPD investigators, our SWAT Team, Gang Unit, and reliable information from our citizens.
Naylor appeared in Meridian Municipal Court Friday, where his bond was set at $1 million.
“Our investigators acted quickly, followed every lead and worked around the clock to move this case forward,” Assistant Chief Dareall Thompson said. “I’m proud of every part of this department that came together, from our investigators to the officers and specialized units that helped make this arrest safely. Our people never stopped working toward an arrest and accountability for what happened. This arrest reflects the kind of coordinated police work we expect."
Anyone with additional information related to the case is encouraged to contact the Meridian Police Department.
