Kemper County Aggravated Assualt Charge

On Sunday, August 10, 2025, deputies with the Kemper County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Deville Apartment Complex, located at 15491 Highway 39 North in DeKalb, regarding a physical altercation.

During the incident, Maria Brunson allegedly used a glass bottle to strike the victim on the left side of the face, causing severe laceration. The victim was transported for medical treatment.

Brunson was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault. On Tuesday, August 12, 2025, during her initial appearance at the Kemper County Courthouse, Brunson was issued a $5,000 Bond and assigned a mandatory court date of Monday, October 27, 2025.
