Jackson Records 9th Homicide of the Year After Early Morning Shooting

Jackson, MS — Authorities are investigating the city’s ninth homicide of the year following a deadly shooting at a residence on Lake Glen Drive.

According to the Jackson Police Department (JPD), Precinct 3 officers responded early this morning to reports of a domestic disturbance in the 600 block of Lake Glen Drive. Upon arrival, officers learned that shots had been fired at the residence.

Several individuals were reportedly inside the home when officers arrived on the scene.

Police say officers discovered the body of an adult male lying at the front door of the residence. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The department’s Robbery/Homicide Unit and Mobile Crime Unit were called in to process the scene. The Hinds County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) and Coroner also responded.

Investigators recovered weapons and shell casings from the residence as part of the ongoing investigation.

Multiple individuals were transported to JPD headquarters for questioning by homicide detectives. As of now, no arrests have been made.

The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

This marks the ninth homicide recorded in Jackson so far this year. Authorities have stated that the investigation remains active, and additional details may be released as they become available.
