PRESS RELEASE

On October 28, 2025 at approximately 4:20 PM, Newton County E-911 dispatched officers to a residence located on Pine Street for a deceased male. Newton Police Department, Newton Fire & Rescue, AmeriPro EMS, and Newton County Corner responded to the scene. The deceased male was identified as Ray Charles Evans, 67, of Newton, Mississippi. This remains an active investigation; however, there are no signs of foul play at this time. Next of kin notifications have been made to Mr. Evans’ family and the Newton Police Department extends our deepest condolences to his family in their time of bereavement.
