Fire Destroys Newton County Home; No Injuries Reported

A home was destroyed by fire in Newton County on Thursday, prompting a response from multiple volunteer fire departments and emergency agencies.

Firefighters from the Union, Conehatta, Decatur, and Beulah Hubbard Fire Departments responded to the blaze at a home located near Stratton Road and Highway 489.

The Newton County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) and the Newton County Sheriff's Office also assisted at the scene.

The home was a total loss. Fortunately, the homeowners were not at home when the fire started, and no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire has not yet been released.
