Howard Industries Founder Billy Wilson Howard, Sr. Passes Away

The Howard family has announced the passing of Billy Wilson Howard, Sr., founder and visionary leader of Howard Industries, Inc.

Mr. Howard was born on January 26, 1927, in Louisville, Mississippi. He attended Mississippi State University on a football scholarship, where he earned a degree electrical engineering in just three years. A standout athlete, he lettered in football, basketball, and track, and was later inducted into the Mississippi State Sports Hall of Fame.

Following his graduation, Mr. Howard served as a First Lieutenant in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. After completing his military service, he began his professional career at General Electric, gaining valuable industry experience that would later shape his entrepreneurial journey.

In 1968, Mr. Howard founded Howard Industries, Inc. Under his leadership, the company grew from a small operation into a billion-dollar global manufacturing enterprise, earning recognition as one of Mississippi’s most successful industrial businesses.

Throughout his career, Mr. Howard received numerous honors, including Entrepreneur of the Year and induction into the Mississippi Business Hall of Fame, reflecting both his business achievements and his lasting impact on the state’s economy.

Billy Wilson Howard, Sr. will be remembered for his integrity, vision, generosity, and unwavering commitment to family, community, and excellence.
