MHS Boys 4x200 Relay Team Honored with State Championship Rings

The Meridian High School Boys 4x200 Meter Relay team was celebrated in a special ring ceremony on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. in the MHS Multipurpose Building. The Wildcats captured the top spot on May 3, 2025, at the MHSAA 7A State Track Meet.

Team members Omyri Wade, Michael Winkfield, and Chad Boyd received their MHSAA State Championship Rings in recognition of their outstanding performance and hard work that led them to secure the state title. Timothy Gowdy, who graduated in May, was unable to attend due to being at college.

“This group of young men exemplifies what it means to be Wildcats,” said Regonal Walker, MHS Track and Field Coach. “Their dedication, teamwork, and determination brought home a championship for our school and community, and today we honor that achievement.”

The ceremony was attended by students, staff, and family members who gathered to celebrate the team’s accomplishment and the pride they have brought to Meridian High School.

“This is a special moment that these student-athletes will remember for the rest of their lives,” said MHS Athletic Director Cheyenne Trussell. “We are extremely proud of them and look forward to seeing their continued success both on and off the track.”
