Governor Reeves Appoints Russell B. Jordan County Court Judge for DeSoto County
JACKSON, Miss. – Governor Tate Reeves today announced the appointment of Russell B. Jordan of Hernando as County Court Judge for DeSoto County. This appointment fills a vacancy created when the former County Court Judge Craig Treadway was appointed to serve as circuit court judge for the 21st Circuit Court District.
“Russell’s extensive courtroom experience, commitment to the rule of law and record of public service have prepared him for this important role,” said Governor Reeves. “His experience as a prosecuting attorney and civil litigator, combined with his dedication to the people of DeSoto County, makes him exceptionally qualified for judicial service.”
Jordan currently serves as the acting county prosecutor for DeSoto County and the City of Hernando. He previously served as the prosecuting attorney for the City of Horn Lake. Throughout his nearly two decade legal career, Russell has handled a wide and diverse range of civil and criminal matters and has tried cases in state and federal courts across the South.
Jordan earned his J.D. from the University of Mississippi School of Law and his B.B.A. from Mississippi State University. He is a member of the State Bar of Mississippi, Tennessee and Arkansas.
Jordan’s appointment will begin on November 1, 2026, and he will serve until the position is filled by special election next November.
