Kemper County Sheriff's Office Recovers Stolen ATV in Alabama
KEMPER COUNTY, Miss. — A stolen ATV taken from Kemper County has been recovered following a joint investigation between law enforcement agencies in Mississippi and Alabama.
On Monday, August 3, 2026, the Kemper County Sheriff's Office received information regarding the possible location of an ATV that had been stolen from Kemper County and transported across the state line into Alabama. Acting on the tip, the Kemper County Sheriff's Office coordinated with the Sumter County Sheriff's Office to investigate.
During a search of a property in Emelle, Alabama, deputies located the stolen ATV concealed deep within a wooded area. The vehicle was successfully recovered and returned to its rightful owner in Kemper County.
Authorities said criminal charges are expected as the investigation continues.
The Kemper County Sheriff's Office expressed its appreciation to the Sumter County Sheriff's Office for its assistance and continued partnership in investigations that extend across state lines.
"This recovery demonstrates the value of strong cooperation between neighboring law enforcement agencies and the positive results that can be achieved when agencies work together toward a common goal," the sheriff's office said.
