Crash Victim Found with Gunshot Wound After Early Morning Accident on College Drive

MERIDIAN, Miss. — Emergency crews responded to a single-vehicle crash early this morning on College Drive near 14th Street.

The accident occurred at approximately 5:15 a.m., when a vehicle left the roadway, struck a power line, and came to rest in front of MCC. Responding agencies included the Meridian Police Department, Meridian Fire Department, and Metro Ambulance.

Upon arriving at the scene it was discovered that the driver had also sustained a gunshot wound. The victim was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment. The driver's condition has not been released.

Authorities have not disclosed how or when the driver sustained the gunshot wound, and the circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.
