The Meridian Police Department is investigating incident

At approximately 7:15 p.m., 911 received a call regarding a motor vehicle accident in the area of 18th Street between 30th and 31st Avenues. Officers responded immediately to the scene.

Upon arrival, officers worked quickly to ensure the victim received medical attention and was transported to a local hospital. It was later determined that the individual had suffered a gunshot wound. The victim was subsequently airlifted to a hospital in Jackson for further treatment.

This remains an active and ongoing investigation by the Meridian Police Department. Because the investigation is in its early stages, limited details are available at this time.
