Death Investigation Concludes: Man Dies of Heart Attack on 5th Street

Meridian, MS – A man who died following an incident on 5th Street and 41st Avenue has been confirmed to have suffered a fatal heart attack, according to local authorities.

As previously reported, the Meridian Police Department responded to a call regarding a possible altercation at the scene. Early reports suggested that a woman may have pushed the male subject, causing him to fall and hit his head. However, further investigation has clarified the circumstances.

After being transported to a local hospital, medical personnel worked to revive the man, but he was later pronounced dead. Lauderdale County Coroner Stella McMahan confirmed that the cause of death was due to heart complications, not trauma related to a fall or assault.

A female was detained at the scene as part of the initial investigation but has not been charged with causing harm to the man. Authorities now confirm that she did not contribute to his death.

The Meridian Police Department has since concluded the investigation, ruling out foul play in the incident.
