Car Chase Ends With Arrest at 7th Ave.

A car chase that began near 8th Street this morning ended with an arrest at 7th Avenue and 19th Street, just south of Dairy Queen on Highway 39 North.

According to preliminary information, the vehicle was traveling at a reduced speed of approximately 10 mph when it turned into the Burger King area. The vehicle appeared to stop or become disabled as it approached 8th Street again, but it was able to continue through 9th Street and head toward the Highland Park area.

At several points, the vehicle appeared to stop before starting again and reaching speeds estimated between 50 and 60 mph.

The driver’s luck ran out near 7th Avenue and 19th Street, where law enforcement was able to stop the vehicle.

Enzo Meridian’s K-9 was deployed at the scene, and the driver was taken into custody.

Charges are pending. More information is expected to be released by the Meridian Police Department as the investigation continues.
