Traffic Stop in Meridian Leads to Foot Pursuit and Arrest

A routine traffic stop early this morning in Meridian resulted in a brief foot pursuit and the arrest of one suspect.

According to reports, the Meridian Police Department conducted a traffic stop around 2:40 a.m. in the 3200 block of 8th Street.

As the officer exited the patrol vehicle to approach the car, the driver suddenly fled the scene on foot.

The officer immediately pursued the suspect, gained ground, and successfully took the individual into custody as additional officers arrived to assist.

One person was arrested and is now facing multiple charges.
