Jury Convicts Fredarius Lyndsey in 2023 Newton, MS Homicide
On December 24, 2023, Kendrick “Monster” Evans was fatally shot at a residence located at the corner of Oak Street and Violet Street in Newton. The Newton Police Department launched a homicide investigation, which ultimately led to the arrest and charging of Fredarius Lyndsey with First Degree Murder.
The case went to trial on December 9–10, 2025. Following deliberations, a jury found Fredarius Lyndsey guilty of First Degree Murder. He was subsequently sentenced to life in prison.
Officials say the verdict brings justice for Mr. Evans and hope it provides a measure of closure for his family. The community continues to keep the Evans family in its thoughts and prayers.
