Suspect Arrested After Shots Fired at Deputies During Safety Checkpoint

On Thursday, August 21st, 2025, at approximately 9:48 p.m., deputies with the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department established a roadside safety checkpoint on Highway 19 South near the north end of Wilkerson Loop Road.

At approximately 9:49 p.m., multiple gunshots were fired from a residence located on the west side of the highway. One Sheriff's Department vehicle was struck by gunfire.

No deputies were injured

Deputies took one suspect into custody: Dakota Lowell Frasier, a 27-year-old white male, has been charged with four counts of Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer. At this time, no bond has been set.

This investigation remains active and ongoing. The case will be presented to the next available grand jury for consideration.
