Barn Destroyed in Structure Fire on Highway 493

A barn was completely destroyed by fire on Wednesday evening in the 6400 block of Highway 493.

Fire crews were dispatched at approximately 5:35 p.m. Upon arrival, firefighters found the barn fully involved. Despite efforts to contain the blaze, the structure was deemed a total loss.

All animals were safely evacuated, and no injuries were reported.

Motorists were urged to use caution in the area of Highway 493 near Oak Hill Church at the city limits while emergency crews worked the scene.

Responding agencies included the Bailey Volunteer Fire Department, Meridian Fire Department, and the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department.

The cause of the fire has not yet been released. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
