Sheriff Anthony Chancelor, Deputy Injured During Arrest on CR 373

Enterprise , MS — Anthony Chancelor and a deputy were transported by private car to the emergency room following a violent arrest on County Road 373 involving a suspect who allegedly threatened law enforcement and threw rocks at passing vehicles.

According to authorities, deputies responded to a call reporting a man attempting to stop women driving along CR 373 while throwing rocks at their vehicles.

When officers made contact with the individual, the suspect reportedly threatened to kill Sheriff Chancelor and his deputies.

Sheriff Chancelor stated that when he attempted to apprehend the suspect, the individual ran into his nearby mobile home. The sheriff pursued the suspect inside, where an altercation occurred in the living room.

After a physical struggle, deputies were able to take the suspect into custody.

As a result of the confrontation, Sheriff Chancelor, Deputy Scrimpshire, and the suspect were all transported to a local emergency room for treatment of injuries sustained during the incident. The extent of those injuries has not yet been released.

Charges against the suspect are expected to include assault on a law enforcement officer, and other related offenses.

The investigation remains ongoing.
