Neshoba County Removes Nuisance Alligator from Park

Authorities in Neshoba County responded to reports of a nuisance alligator at Burnside Park, where a mother gator and her babies were safely removed from the water.

The operation involved both the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks and the Neshoba County Sheriff's Department. A dive team was also in the area at the time, conducting training exercises.

Sheriff Eric Clark requested the alligators will be relocated to Newton County, Mississippi ,in a lighthearted note. Clark joked that the relocation would give Sheriff Joedy Pennington and his staff an opportunity to prepare for a future “gator wrestling contest.”

No injuries were reported, and the situation was handled without incident.
