One Person Dies in Scott County House Fire

One person has died following a house fire in Scott County, marking the second fatal structure fire in the county in as many days.

The Scott County Volunteer Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire on Stuart Road, off Highway 13 South, shortly before 7 p.m. on this evening.

Scott County Coroner Hunter Wolf confirmed that one person was pronounced dead at the scene. A second individual was able to escape the home and did not report life-threatening injuries.

The cause of the fire has not yet been released. Authorities say the incident remains under investigation.
