Severe thunderstorms will be possible late this week, mainly late Thursday night over northwest portions of the area, and then from Friday afternoon into Friday night over the entire area. The primary concerns will be for damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph and hail up to quarter size, but a few brief tornadoes can't be ruled out.
Locally heavy rain is expected to fall mainly during the Friday to Friday night time frame. Two to three inches of rainfall will be possible in a short time, and this will bring a limited threat for flash flooding in low lying and urban areas.
