Murder in Conehatta

An altercation has led to the murder of a man on the reservation in Newton County. Choctaw Police were called to the 400 Block of Campus Drive overnight where they found a man who had been shot. The Choctaw Police Department determined that both parties were non-tribal members and the Newton County Sheriff's Department was called to the scene. The deceased man is listed as a Georgia resident and the suspect is from Philadelphia, MS. The murder is under investigation and more information will follow as the Newton County Sheriff's Department investigates.
