Local Hotels- Scammed Over the Weekend

Weekend Theft - Scam

Over the weekend several local hotels were hit with a scam.  A female voice would call the front desk and claim she left an item such as a purse hanging on the door of a room. Then the suspects would ask the clerk if they would please go retrieve it and they would return shortly to pick it up.

In the parking lot, the suspects would be waiting for the clerk to leave the front desk. They would then enter the hotel and take the money from the cash register. In one case the suspects took the entire register with them. The suspects were driving a blue Toyota car with tinted windows. If captured the suspects will only be charged with a misdemeanor. The reason is there was not enough money taken to be charged with anything other than a misdemeanor.
