Earth's Bounty Returns April 2nd

8 a.m. -12N Singing Brakeman Park on Front Street Fresh produce (including from a new organic farm!), a fruit tree giveaway, an heirloom plant sale and tons of homemade goods. Those all signal that spring is busting out as the Earth’s Bounty Festival begins its 11th year Saturday, April 2. In celebration of Arbor Day, we’ll have a tree giveaway co-sponsored by Mississippi Power Company and Leadership Lauderdale, with apricot, blueberry and pecan trees available. Come early to get a ticket, then the trees will be given away to ticket holders starting at 10 a.m., as long as they’re available. The celebration continues with the planting of an Arbor Day tree, and pruning demonstrations by Kevin Locke, City of Meridian arborist. The newest addition to the Earth’s Bounty family of vendors is Fox Hill Farm, an organic grower, which will launch its entry into the festival with bags of organic baby salad mix and pasture-raised eggs. As the season progresses, Fox Hill will feature heirloom tomatoes, Italian sweet peppers and other produce, all grown organically. Lots of returning vendors will be there, including Sweet Treats by Allyson, Mr. Kidd Farm, Salsa Sue, R&M Honey, Bracky’s, Moore’s Table, Dough Darling, Linda’s Homemade Goodies and plenty of others. A special feature of the April festival will be the awarding of the 2021 Andy Smith Excellence Award to one vendor who exemplifies the spirit and entrepreneurship of Andy Smith, one of the co-founders of the Earth’s Bounty Festival. The Andy Smith Award is presented annually. Keeping the energy going as we enter another season will be Daniel Houze, an incredibly versatile local musician and an Earth’s Bounty favorite. And Greater Meridian Health Clinic will be back again as always, offering free health screenings. A new season brings new swag! We’ll have a newly designed T-shirt in two different colors, and a unique Earth’s Bounty grocery bag that can be used for Earth’s Bounty purchases and all those trips to the grocery store. Both will be on sale at the Earth’s Bounty registration booth. As always, hours are 8 a.m. to noon, rain or shine. Come on down to Singing Brakeman Park on Front Street and help usher in the new season.
