16 Year Old Arrested With Stolen Firearm at Entrance of Neshoba Central Junior High Ball Game.

On Tuesday, September 19, 2022, a Neshoba County School Resource Officer (SRO) detained four suspicious male subjects behind the concession stand at the football stadium entrance. The School Resource Officer was on duty when he noticed four student aged males coming from a woodlot adjacent to the football field. The officer observed the juveniles as they emerged from the woods and made their way through the darkness towards the stadium entrance area. Neshoba Central Junior High was hosting Newton County in Jr. High Football games when the event occurred.

The call for assistance came around 7:20 pm as the SRO confronted the students. The SRO noticed a bulge around the waistband of one of the students. Upon examination, it was revealed to be a handgun under his shirt. The officer attempted to gain control of the handgun as the juvenile began to resist. Security and School Administrators assisted as law enforcement responded. Philadelphia Police Officers and Neshoba County patrol units responded to the call for assistance.

Two handguns were recovered from the students, a Smith & Wesson .9mm and a Springfield XD9 .9mm. The Springfield had been reported stolen from Yalobusha County, MS. The Springfield held an extended magazine that would hold in excess of 25 rounds of ammunition.

Jacarey Clemons (16) was charged with Possession of a Stolen Handgun and Possession of a Firearm on School Property and resisting arrest. Clemons is currently out on felony bond on aggravated assault charges. Clemons is being held in the Neshoba County Detention Center awaiting initial appearance before a Justice Court Judge.

A second juvenile is being detained in a Juvenile Detention Facility per Neshoba County Youth Court Judge.
