Name Released in Fatal I-20 Crash

Authorities have identified the victim of a fatal crash on Interstate 20 as 74-year-old Harold Crocker of Lake, Mississippi.

The tragic accident occurred on Sunday, April 5, 2026, near Mile Marker 103 at approximately 9:49 p.m., when a Nissan passenger vehicle was reportedly traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of the interstate.

According to witnesses, multiple drivers observed the vehicle moving in the wrong direction and immediately contacted emergency services. Despite those warnings, the vehicle collided head-on with another motorist before law enforcement could intervene.

Deputies from the Newton County Sheriff’s Office and troopers with the Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to the scene. The crash remains under investigation as officials work to determine what led to the vehicle traveling the wrong way.
