Former Doc's Toyota Comptroller Pleads Guilty to Embezzlement Charges
A former comptroller for Doc’s Toyota has pleaded guilty to multiple embezzlement charges in Neshoba and Winston counties.
The defendant, identified as Latisha Jones Smith, was charged on May 9, 2023, in Louisville, Mississippi, with felony embezzlement by the Louisville Police Department. Smith was also charged in April by the Philadelphia Police Department in connection with a separate embezzlement case.
According to authorities, Smith allegedly embezzled funds while employed as a comptroller at Doc’s Toyota, a position held for nearly three years. Investigators say the charges stem from financial discrepancies discovered during that time.
Smith has since pleaded guilty to the embezzlement charges and has been ordered to pay restitution. A sentence has been handed down in connection with the guilty pleas, though additional details regarding the terms of the sentence have not been released.
