Pedestrian Killed in Clarke County Crash

CLARKE COUNTY, Miss. — A pedestrian was struck and killed in a crash on Highway 45 near County Road 345 in the Rolling Creek community of Clarke County.

Emergency responders from the Mississippi Highway Patrol, Clarke County Sheriff's Office, Clarke County Emergency Team, Rolling Creek Volunteer Fire Department, and the Clarke County Coroner's Office responded to the scene.

According to preliminary information, an 18-wheeler struck a pedestrian who was reportedly walking or standing in the roadway. The pedestrian died from injuries sustained in the collision.

The identity of the victim has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. Additional information is expected to be released as the investigation continues.
