City of Meridian, Mississippi officials urge residents to stay off roads amid widespread flooding tonight. We are actively responding to significant flooding across multiple areas of the city due to ongoing severe weather conditions.
Residents are strongly urged to stay off roads tonight unless absolutely necessary. Flooded roadways present serious and unpredictable dangers, including swift water movement, hidden debris, and compromised pavement.
“Our priority is the safety of our residents”, said mayor Percy Bland, we’re asking everyone to remain where they are, avoid travel, and allow our first responders to do their work safely and efficiently. Tonight is about safety. So stay put, stay alert, and stay safe.”
Emergency personnel, including police, fire and public works cruise are actively monitoring conditions and responding we needed.
City officials remind everyone:
