City of Meridian and Young Professionals of Meridian to Provide Free Trolley Rides on New Year’s Eve
Meridian, Mississippi — The City of Meridian,Mississippi, in partnership with the Young Professionals of Meridian, will provide free trolley rides on New Year’s Eve for those attending the Young Professionals of Meridian New Year’s Eve Bash on the City Hall lawn in downtown Meridian.
The free trolley service is part of a shared commitment to public safety and responsible celebration. The trolley will be available throughout the evening to assist attendees who may find themselves without a ride or who have celebrated a little too much, helping ensure everyone gets home safely.
“This is about taking care of people,” said Terrell Thompson, Community Development Director for the City of Meridian. “We want everyone to enjoy the celebration while also making the smart choice at the end of the night. Partnering with Young Professionals of Meridian to provide a free ride home is one more way we can help keep our community safe.”
The initiative is a collaborative effort between the City of Meridian Police Department, the Community Development Department, and the Young Professionals of Meridian, focused on proactive safety during a large downtown event.
“Our priority is keeping this celebration safe for everyone,” said Assistant Chief Dareall Thompson of the Meridian Police Department. “We encourage people to celebrate responsibly and take advantage of the free trolley if they need a ride home.”
City officials say the free trolley service reflects a shared commitment between the city and community partners to promote safety, responsibility, and care for one another as Meridian welcomes the new year.
