Narcotics Arrest Kemper County Sheriff’s Office

On Monday, September 22, 2025, at approximately 10:13 p.m., a Patrol Deputy with the Kemper County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on Highway 16 in the town of DeKalb.

During the investigation, the odor of marijuana was detected. A search of the vehicle and driver led to the discovery of two baggies containing marijuana and a Glock 43X 9mm pistol located in the driver’s waistband.

Prior to being booked into the Kemper County Jail, the deputy advised the driver of additional charges if contraband was brought into the facility. At that time, the driver admitted to having another plastic bag of marijuana concealed in his pants. The total weight of the marijuana recovered from three baggies was approximately 62.5 grams.

Arrested:
• Izaiah Shamar Bourrage

Charge:
• Sale, Transfer, Manufacture, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance (Marijuana, approx. 62.5 grams)

Although this may be considered a small portion compared to the illicit drugs circulating across the country, every enforcement action contributes to cleaning up our streets and protecting our communities. While marijuana may not pose the same dangers as other controlled substances, it remains illegal to possess in the State of Mississippi without proper medical authorization. Until such time as the law changes, the Kemper County Sheriff’s Office will continue to uphold and enforce these laws.
