MPD Announces Charges in Cold Case Involving Death of 8-Month-Old

The Meridian Police Department announced charges in a cold case during a press conference held this morning.

Police said James Parker Jr has been charged with murder and arrested July 16, 2026 in connection with the death of Xavier Bryant, an 8-month-old child.

Authorities also announced that Jaquanisha Terrell has been charged and arrested July 16, 2026 with felonious child abuse related to the case.

The investigation remained active for an extended period before investigators developed the evidence that led to the charges
