East Mississippi Business Development Corporation Hires Charlie Ballou as Director of Economic Development

MERIDIAN, Miss. — The East Mississippi Business Development Corporation (EMBDC) has announced the hiring of Charlie Ballou as its new Director of Economic Development. Ballou will officially begin his new role on September 1, 2026.

Ballou joins the EMBDC after serving as a district staff member for U.S. Representative Michael Guest. During his time in the congressional office, he worked closely with business leaders, military installations, community organizations, state agencies, and local officials throughout East Mississippi.

In his previous position, Ballou helped connect communities with federal resources while assisting local leaders in navigating issues important to economic growth and regional development. His experience working across multiple sectors is expected to strengthen the EMBDC's efforts to recruit new business, support existing industries, and promote economic opportunities throughout the region.

EMBDC officials expressed confidence that Ballou's background and relationships across East Mississippi will be valuable assets as the organization continues its mission of fostering economic development and investment in the area.
