Manhunt Underway Near Hwy 21 South in Neshoba County
Authorities are actively searching for a male suspect who fled on foot from a safety checkpoint in Neshoba County.
According to reports, deputies from the Neshoba County Sheriff’s Office, along with Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP), CTED, and Choctaw Police, initiated a search after the individual ran from the scene. A female passenger traveling with the suspect was detained after she also attempted to flee.
The suspect has been identified as Edgar Leonel Martinez Avalos. He is described as a Hispanic male wearing dark shorts, a gray T-shirt, and boots.
The search is currently focused in the area of Highway 21 South near County Road 107. Law enforcement has deployed a K-9 unit to assist in locating the individual.
Residents in the area are urged to remain alert and exercise caution. Anyone who sees this individual or has information related to the incident is encouraged to contact local authorities immediately.
