Traffic Was Shut Down Thursday Night in Newton Due To Man on Bridge

The Newton Police Department received a call of a man wanting to jump off the I-20 Bridge inside the city limits of Newton. NPD officers responded with assistance from Newton Fire Department and the Newton County Sheriff's Office. The alleged victim was able to be talked off the ledge by one of our officers and transported to a safe place for evaluation. The highway is now open for safe travel.
