EMEPA Sends Crews to Assist With Power Outages After Winter Storm Fern

Despite Winter Storm Fern causing widespread damage across Mississippi and the nation, East Mississippi Electric Power Association (EMEPA) reports that its service area was largely spared from significant impact.

In the true spirit of cooperation, EMEPA has deployed crews to assist a sister cooperative affected by the storm. At daybreak, two line crews, a right-of-way crew, an East Mississippi Connect fiber crew, and engineering support personnel departed to support Natchez Trace Electric Power Association, headquartered in Houston, Mississippi.

The crews will assist with power restoration efforts in areas that experienced outages and storm damage.

EMEPA officials expressed gratitude for the dedication and professionalism of the crews and asked members to keep them in their thoughts and prayers as they work in challenging conditions.

“Our linemen and support teams exemplify the cooperative principle of helping others in times of need,” the association said. “We are incredibly proud of their commitment and service. Come home safe.”
