Statement From Clarke County Sheriff Anthony Chancelor

Six deputies resigned following an attempted internal coup on Sunday, May 17. Despite these events, the Sheriff’s Office remains fully committed to serving the citizens of Clarke County with professionalism.

What is most disappointing is that these employees — individuals I worked with and saw regularly — chose to air their grievances on social media rather than bringing their concerns directly to me. Their actions came as a complete surprise.

Our focus now is moving forward and continuing to provide the dependable service and protection the people of Clarke County deserve.
