Person of Interest Wanted in Newton

The Newton Police Department has identified a person of interest in connection with a reported shots fired incident that occurred Saturday night in Newton.

According to a press release issued by Newton Police Chief McKenzie Patrick, officers were dispatched to a residence on West Railroad Street at approximately 9:50 p.m. on May 30 after Newton County E-911 received reports of shots fired.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers confirmed that a shooting had occurred and launched an investigation.

Based on preliminary findings and evidence collected during the investigation, authorities have identified Nathan Boone of Union, Mississippi, as a person of interest in the case.

Law enforcement officials are asking for the public's assistance in locating Boone. Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is encouraged to contact the Newton Police Department at 601-683-2042 or Newton County E-911 at 601-635-4010.

Police emphasized that the investigation remains active and ongoing. No additional details about the incident have been released at this time
