Meridian Blues Announce Larry Gill as General Manager and Part Owner
Meridian, MS — The Meridian Blues of the Mid America League are proud to announce that Larry Gill will serve as a partner and inaugural General Manager of the franchise.
A Meridian native, Gill brings strong local roots, professional experience, and a passion for community engagement to the Meridian Blues organization. He was born and raised in Meridian and is a graduate of Meridian High School and Meridian Community College. Gill earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Mississippi State University’s Meridian Campus.
Gill has spent the past thirteen years licensed in the insurance industry, working directly with individuals and families to help protect their most valuable assets. His customer-focused approach and commitment to service align closely with the Blues’ mission of building meaningful connections within the community.
In addition to his professional background, Gill is deeply involved in local youth athletics. He currently serves as President of the Meridian Youth Baseball Association, an organization dedicated to teaching and growing the game of baseball for children ages 7–12.
In his role, Gill will focus on building the organizational foundation of the Meridian Blues, including assembling a strong front office, coaching staff, and operational team to guide the club through its inaugural season and beyond.
“This organization is being built with intention,” Gill said. “From day one, our focus is on putting the right people in the right roles and creating a structure that allows everyone to succeed. Strong teams are built through shared responsibility, clear leadership, and trust in the people you bring together.”
Gill emphasized that the Meridian Blues are taking a collaborative approach to leadership, ensuring that responsibilities are distributed across a capable and experienced staff. This structure is designed to support sustainable growth while allowing the organization to operate at a high level both on and off the field.
“For a team like this to thrive, it has to be embraced by the community it represents,” Gill said. “I look forward to working with local businesses, fans, and community leaders to build that support and make sure this organization reflects the pride and spirit of Meridian.”
As General Manager, Gill will oversee day-to-day team operations, community partnerships, ticketing, sponsorships, and fan engagement as the Blues prepare for their inaugural season.
“We are thrilled that Larry has agreed to lead the Blues inaugural season, stated Mark Schuster, founder of the Blues and the Mid America League. “It is clear that Larry is a leader who knows how to build successful organizations and the building of his team around him will be vitally important”.
The Meridian Blues will compete in the Mid America League against teams across Texas, Missouri, Kansas, and Mississippi. The Mid America League is an independent professional summer baseball league committed to high-level competition, player development, and affordable, family-friendly entertainment.
“Larry Gill is one of those names that people across Meridian know and respect,” Meridian Mayor Percy Bland said. “He brings a level of leadership, credibility, and community connection that will be a tremendous asset to the Meridian Blues organization. We are very excited about what Larry will help build both on and off the field, as this team becomes even stronger point of pride for our city. I want to thank Mark Schuster and the Ventura Sports Group for making this partnership possible and continuing to invest in Meridian‘s momentum and future.”
The Meridian Blues’ ownership group continues to work behind the scenes to finalize staffing, league operations, and community partnerships as excitement builds around the team’s arrival in the city.
