Body Found Near Pearl River in Jackson, Mississippi

JACKSON, Miss. — Law enforcement is investigating after a body was found near the Pearl River Thursday morning.

A fisherman spotted the body floating in the river near the Interstate 20 bridge and called the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department at approximately 10 a.m. Responding deputies, along with emergency personnel, used boats and drones to search the area.

Because the river runs through the city, the Capitol Police are now leading the investigation. Authorities have not yet released information about the identity of the individual or the circumstances surrounding their death.
