SPRUCE IT UP, THEN GIVE THANKS!
Sprucing up Meridian’s neighborhoods is a good way to give thanks for a clean and vibrant community, so the City of Meridian and Keep America Beautiful are giving residents the opportunity to clean up targeted neighborhoods before the Thanksgiving holiday.
On Saturday, November 14, local residents can head to one of six targeted sites, pick up the supplies they will need, and start cleaning up the area. The City of Meridian will give out disposable gloves, safety vests and orange trash bags to all the volunteers, beginning at 8 a.m., and the cleanup will continue until noon. Volunteers will gather in the parking lots of the six sites, which include:
Merrehope at 905 MLK Jr. Drive
Highland Baptist Church at 26th Street and 35th Avenue
Pentecostal Church of God at 1811 Old Marion Road
North Hills Shopping Center at 2934 North Hills Street
Old Salvation Army building at 710 B Street
Riverbirch Center at 2526 Riverbirch Drive
Starting at 11:30 a.m., as work crews begin to finish the job in their targeted area, KAB will treat all volunteers to lunch at Dumont Plaza downtown on 22nd Avenue.
“A cleaner Meridian begins with people taking pride in their neighborhoods and being willing to make a difference. Every volunteer and every effort matters,” said Terrell Thompson, Community Development Department director.
