Jackson Police Investigating City’s 14th Homicide of the Year

The Jackson Police Department is currently investigating a homicide that occurred early Sunday morning, March 8th, in the 600 block of Hampton Circle.

According to authorities, officers with Precinct 4 responded to a call at approximately 12:09 a.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered the body of a deceased Black male lying on the sidewalk between two apartment buildings.

Investigators say the victim had been shot multiple times and died from his injuries at the scene.

The victim has been identified as 27-year-old Anthony Watts. Officials confirmed that his next of kin has been notified.

Police say the suspect vehicle is believed to be a late-model black Nissan occupied by three individuals. Investigators believe the shooting may have stemmed from an ongoing dispute between the suspect and the victim.

This marks the 14th homicide in Jackson this year.

The investigation remains ongoing.
