A former Jasper County teacher pled guilty to sexual battery involving a minor.

Joe Michael Sanchez was arrested on July 12, 2024 after a student and their parent filed a complaint against him. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison, with five years to serve and five years of supervised release after he pled guilty February 24, 2026.
