Neshoba County Deputies Respond to Reported Swatting Call

Neshoba County Sheriff's Office Sheriff Eric Clark said deputies responded to Highway 16 near Bobby’s Country Store and Dogwood Lane after a 16-year-old caller reported that his father had shot his mother.

Deputies arrived on scene and quickly surrounded the home while assessing the situation. Authorities then deployed a drone into the residence before deputies breached and cleared the house.

After searching the home, deputies discovered no one inside.

A short time later, a man arrived at the scene and informed Sheriff Eric Clark that the residence belonged to him and that everyone in his family was safe.

No injuries were reported.

The Neshoba County Sheriff’s Department is now investigating who made the call and how it originated. Authorities believe the incident appears to have been a “swatting” call, which Sheriff Clark said may be one of the first reported cases in Neshoba County.
