Arrest of Mr. Andrew Robinson

The Leake County Sheriff's Office would like to inform the public about the arrest of Mr. Andrew Robinson, which occurred on September 18, 2025, at 8:22 p.m. Mr. Robinson, who until last night was involved in illegal drug activity in our community, is now in custody at the Leake County Regional Correctional Facility following dedicated efforts by our Investigators and Deputies, and with the assistance of Newton County Sheriff’s Office and the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics.

Under the leadership of Sheriff Randy W. Atkinson, Investigators and Deputies spent several weeks conducting surveillance and multiple traffic stops. Their diligent work led to a carefully planned search warrant at a residence on Old Salem Road, targeting the trafficking of controlled substances.

We would like to thank the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics for assisting us in the investigation and execution of the search warrant. We would also like to thank Sheriff Joedy Pennington of Newton County for allowing some of his deputies, along with their K9s, to assist us in executing the search warrant.

As a result of this search warrant, Investigators and Deputies seized 842.7 grams (about 1.85 pounds) of methamphetamine. For context, possession of just 0.1 gram is a felony offense. This amount could have led to over 8,400 felony charges if it had been distributed.

Additionally, the search led to the seizure of 208 grams of marijuana and 4.7 grams of fentanyl. Fentanyl is extremely dangerous; as little as 2 milligrams can be lethal, according to the DEA. The amount seized could have potentially caused harm to over 2,300 people. Fentanyl is often found mixed with other street drugs, making it particularly hazardous.

Sheriff Randy W. Atkinson praised his team, stating, “I am extremely proud of our deputies and investigators. Their teamwork, dedication, and commitment to service make the Leake County Sheriff’s Office and our community safer and stronger.”

Sheriff Randy W. Atkinson and his deputies are committed to protecting our community. Every gram of illegal drugs removed from the streets represents another life made safer. We remain dedicated to reducing the impact of dangerous substances in Leake County. #LeakeCountyStrong #everytenthcounts
