Police Gang Unit/K-9 Tolede Seizes Major Quanity of Illegal Drugs Following Traffic Stop
The City of Meridian and the Meridian Police Department announced a significant drugs seizure, following a traffic stop conducted by the members of the Meridian Police Department Gang Unit.
Recently officers made a traffic stop on a Ford pickup truck on B St. near Highway 39 North. During a probable cause search of the vehicle officers and K-9 Tolede discovered and seized multiple illegal substances, including:
* over 60 grams of cocaine
* over 100 g of methamphetamine
* over 100 ecstasy pills
* over 1 pound of marijuana
As a result of the investigation, Larry Scott was charged with three counts of trafficking, a controlled substance with firearm enhancement felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a controlled substance. His bond was set at $195,000.
Assistant Chief Darrell Thompson, applauded the work of the officers involved, and emphasized the department’s continued commitment to public safety.
“This seizure represents the kind of proactive enforcement that helps keep dangerous drugs off our streets,” said Assistant Chief Dareall Thompson. “ Our gang unit and our officers remain focused on disrupting criminal activity, and protecting Meridian, Mississippi neighborhoods. We will continue working every day to make our community safer. Illegal drugs have no place in our city.”
