Meridian High School Named a School of Innovation
Meridian High School has been recognized by the Mississippi Department of Education as a School of Innovation—a prestigious designation that highlights the school’s commitment to forward-thinking teaching and learning practices that prepare students for success in both college and career.
Superintendent Dr. Amy Carter celebrated the recognition, saying:
“We are proud of this recognition and what it represents for our students, teachers, and our entire community. This reflects the ongoing effort to ensure every student at Meridian High School is equipped with the skills they need for their future.”
In recent years, Meridian High School has implemented the College and Career Academy model, placing every student in an academy from ninth grade through graduation. This model is designed to increase attendance, engagement, and graduation rates while helping students set clear pathways for their future.
Principal Sherrod Miller added:
“This banner is more than an honor—it’s a symbol of the hard work, collaboration, and innovation happening in our classrooms every day.”
Mayor Percy Bland also shared his pride:
“We are proud of Meridian High School, the Wildcats, and the Meridian Public School District. This recognition shows that our new leaders are right in front of us, preparing to take their place in the future of our city. Meridian High is investing in tomorrow’s leadership today, and our community is stronger for it.”
Congratulations to the Wildcats for leading the way in innovation and excellence!
